Established in 2004, Transhield, Inc. specializes in providing third party safety and compliance solutions to transportation, distribution, and logistics companies nationwide.
The Company’s service offerings range from a contractual safety management service that provides a complete third party ‘safety department’ for companies who prefer to outsource their compliance and safety needs to a cafeteria of transportation solutions that allows companies to choose individual services carte blanche to meet their individual needs. These services include consulting training, for both drivers and managers, driver on-boarding and ongoing compliance programs management and safety awareness programs.

President Profile: Michael S. Connelly, CDS
Michael Connelly is the president of Transhield, Inc. He and the Company specialize in providing third party safety and compliance solutions to transportation, distribution, and logistics companies nationwide.
A graduate of Clemson University, Mr. Connelly has been in the transportation industry for over 20 years. A licensed CDL driver, he has served many operational roles in both the Truckload and LTL industry sectors. Upon entering the field of transportation safety, he quickly rose to the top of an industry leading fleet in Western Maryland. There, he led the company to its most successful years ever in safety, earning the company the Truckload Carrier’s Association’s prestigious National Fleet Safety Award for Excellence in the Field of Motor Carrier Safety.
In 2002, Mr. Connelly was named Safety Supervisor of the Year by the Maryland Motor Truck Association. Additionally, his professional experience, thorough knowledge of the field, and his level of expertise and professionalism have earned him the North American Transportation Management Institute’s highest level of certification, Certified Director of Safety.
Mr. Connelly is actively involved in the industry as a whole as well. He has been a member of the Road Safety Educator’s Association and has been a board member of the Regional Transportation Safety Network serving as an influential member of its Driving Championship Committee. He has also been a member of the North Carolina Motor Truck Association, the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and the Maryland Motor Truck Association, and has served on the MMTA’s Driving Championship Committee. He is a member of the South Carolina Trucking Association, conducting its monthly Brown Bag Webinar Series, and a member of the North American Transportation Management Institute, assisting the Institute in course development and classroom instruction.
He has also been a member of the American Trucking Association’s Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council, has served as a member of its Steering Committee, has served as a judge for the Association’s National Truck Driving Championship, and has served as vice-chairman and chairman of their Accident Review Committee.
During his career, Mr. Connelly has distinguished himself through his research and relevant understanding of the cognitive and psychological aspects of commercial drivers and the task of driving. He is widely recognized in the industry as an expert in transportation safety and compliance.
Mr. Connelly has lectured on numerous occasions before various organizations including numerous company management staffs and drivers, numerous state trucking associations, and the national association, Truckload Carrier’s Association. Also, he has successfully assisted numerous attorneys in litigation involving transportation companies.
